Preview: Egypt's Pyramids FC, Masry start Confed Cup group stage campaign
Published in Ahram Online on 30 - 11 - 2019

Egypt's Pyramids FC and Masry kick off their African Confederation Cup group-stage campaign on Sunday as they eye a positive start in a group which paired them together.
Both sides play away from home in their opening Group A matches, with Pyramids facing Nigeria's Enugu Rangers and Masry playing Mauritania's FC Nouadhibou in Nouakchott.
"There is a big progress in Mauritanian football, and this was evident in Mauritania's recent draw with Morocco," Masry coach Ihab Galal said on the club's official website.
"Facing Nouadhibou at their own venue would be difficult … I only have one target, which is to qualify for the quarter-finals. This means we need to get positive results away from home."
Pyramids, who are making their debut in continental competitions, will be looking to shake off a disappointing domestic run when they meet Rangers.
They drew three out of their opening six matches in the Egyptian Premier League, a modest return given their hopes to challenge Cairo giants Ahly and Zamalek for the coveted title.
Pyramids will continue to miss key playmaker Abdallah El-Said and striker Ahmed Ali against Rangers due to injuries.
