Hamas leader Ismail Haniya is among speakers expected to address a Friday conference organised by Al-Azhar Mosque in protest of Israeli settler attacks on Al-Aqsa mosque and the continued Syrian regime crackdown Several political powers and movements are staging a conference at Al-Azhar Mosque in Cairo on Friday in protest of recent Israeli settler attacks and the brutalcrackdown by the Syrian regime. The event is being dubbed a "million man protest." Al-Azhar mosque is organising the event alongside the Al-Quds committee in the Arab Medical Union and several political and revolutionary movements in Egypt. The conference was planned as a response to the repeated attacks by radical Israeli settlers on Al-Aqsa mosque, as well as being a message of solidarity with Palestinian resistance and calls to end the blockade of the Gaza strip. Key speakers will discuss unifying the Arab and Islamic efforts to stop the judaisation of East Jerusalem. Also on the agenda will be discussions about how to show support for the Syrian people. The conference is expected to demand that the Arab League freezes membership of Syria and activates the Common Arab Defence Agreement to protect the unarmed Syrian people. Among those due to address the conference is the leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniya, who is currently visiting Egypt and will speak for the first time since the ousting of former president Hosni Mubarak. Salah Sultan, a leading member of the Muslim Brotherhood and the International Union for Muslim Scholars, is expected to make a speech as is former Syrian parliamentarian Mamon Al-Homsi. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/35255.aspx
