An African Champions League game between Egypt's Zamalek and Generation Foot in Alexandria was called off on Sunday after the Senegalese side failed to show up in protest against CAF's decision to postpone the game for one day. The second-leg of the competition's second round was originally scheduled to take place in Cairo on Saturday but was delayed due to security concerns in the capital. CAF agreed to Zamalek's request to play on Sunday due to "force majeure" but Generation Foot argued that the decision had violated the Champions League regulations, which require the consent of both clubs. Generation Foot arrived at Cairo's Petrosport Stadium on Saturday evening but were barred entry by the stadium's officials. On Sunday, Zamalek warmed up normally before the match and waited for the visiting team to show up. The referee called off the match 15 minutes after the scheduled kick-off time (20:00). Generation Foot, who sprang a surprise by beating Zamalek 2-1 in the first leg, are expected to file an appeal to CAF's competitions committee. "The security reason presented by Zamalek's management to support their request for postponing the game is not real," Generation Foot said on their official website. The African governing body should now decide whether Zamalek would be awarded a walkover win, which would lift them through to the group stage.
