Pyramids FC will be looking to ease the disappointment of their bitter 3-0 loss to Zamalek in the Egypt Cup final when they host Algeria's CR Belouizdad in the first leg of the African Confederation Cup second round on Saturday. The big-spending outfit's dream of winning their first ever title were crushed by a vibrant Zamalek side last week, with the Cairo giants outplaying them in a one-sided affair. But Pyramids can now look forward to becoming the third Egyptian side to win the Confederation Cup, Africa's secondary club competition, as they meet Belouizdad in Cairo in a tough encounter. Although Belouizdad have never won an African trophy, they are definitely a force to be reckoned with, given their impressive haul of trophies in Algeria that includes six league titles and eight cup triumphs. But Pyramids can also draw on the vast African experience of French coach Sebastien Desabre, who has managed a handful of clubs in the continent since 2010 as well as Mauritania and Uganda's national teams. Pyramids, whose previous wealthy owner Turki Al-Sheikh of Saudi Arabia sold the club to Emirati investor Salem Al Shamsi in the summer, brushed aside Etoile du Congo in the preliminary round with a 5-1 aggregate win.
