Esperance release Dutch coach Krol, appoint French Desabre Esperance de Tunis terminate the contract of their Dutch coach Ruud Krol after their 3-2 loss to Libyan side Ahly Benghazi in the CAF Champions League
After a 3-2 loss to Libyan side Ahly Benghazi and tailing Group B in the CAF Champions League, Esperance de Tunis have terminated the contract of their Dutch coach Ruud Krol and appointed French tactician Sebastien Desabre as his replacement. "The new Esperance technical staff consists of head coach Sebastien Desabre, as Fakhri Bellatief and Adel Al-Atrash will be his assistants," read a statement on the Tunisian club's official website. Krol, 65, has been part of Tunisian football since 2012, when he trained Sfaxien in the 2012-2013 season and won the CAF Confederation Cup title. He then led the Tunisian national team as interim coach before leading Esperance in the 2014 season, when he won the Tunisian professionals league. Under Krol's helm, though, Esperance have lately suffered a dip in form in the CAF Champions League. They are last in Group A with no points after losing both of their games in the group stage – a 2-1 defeat to Entente Sportive de Sétif of Algeria and the 3-2 loss to Ahly Benghazi of Libya. News Esperance coach Desabre has experience in African football, having already coached Coton Sport de Garoua in Cameroon in the 2013 season.
