Ahly coach Martin Lasarte praised the performance of his team's players during the ongoing closed camp in Spain, saying they are ready to take the Egyptian Premier League trophy this season. "The ongoing camp in Spain is useful for the team and we've almost reached our goal, especially ahead of the Egyptian Premier League resumption," Lasarte told Ahly's official website on Monday.
The Cairo giants have started their training camp in Spain in order to prepare for the last two rounds of the Egyptian Premier League, which will resume after the end of the Africa Cup of Nations and the new season games.
The remaining games in the Egyptian Premier League, including an anticipated Cairo derby between Ahly and Zamalek, were pushed forward following the national team's exit from the Africa Cup of Nations.
Ahly are set to face Arab Contractors on 24 July, four days before playing the Cairo derby showdown against Zamalek in the league's final.
"We're preparing for the game against Arab Contractors first, then we will concentrate of the game against Zamalek," the Uruguayan added.
"Our main goal is to win the games and the trophies. We are preparing all the players to win trophies."
Ahly and Zamalek are vying for the league title in one of the tightest races in years.
The Red Devils, who are eyeing a fourth straight league crown, top the table with 74 points and two matches remaining, six ahead of Zamalek who still have three games remaining, including the Cairo derby.
