Egyptian security forces have killed 11 suspected terrorists in a shootout in the border North Sinai region, the interior ministry said in a statement on Thursday. The suspects were members of a terrorist cell in the provincial capital of El-Arish and were planning to carry out attacks on police and army forces in a number of vital areas, the statement said. The shootout broke out as security forces conducted a raid on the suspects' hideout. On Tuesday, seven people, including four policemen, were killed when a suicide bomber targeted police near a market in the North Sinai town of Sheikh Zuweid.
