Egypt's Ministry of Interior said on Monday that security forces have raided several hideouts of terrorist cells that were planning to carry out a series of attacks against state institutions and Christian places of worship in three governorates, with five terrorists killed in a shootout during a security raid. Security forces raided hideouts in the coastal governorate of Alexandria, the Delta governorate of Qalioubiya and El-Wadi El-Gedid governorate in Egypt's Western Desert. The ministry said that five terrorists were killed in a shootout with police after the terrorists opened fire on security forces as they were conducting the raid in Qalioubiya. Police also arrested 10 suspects in Alexandria who the ministry said were funded by terrorists in North Sinai governorate. The statement also said that security forces raided a training camp at a farm in El-Wadi El-Gedid where terrorists trained to use firearms.
