A "wanted terrorist" was killed in a shootout on Tuesday morning during a police raid in the northern coastal governorate of Damietta, state-run news agency MENA said, quoting a security source. The incident occurred when police raided a militant hideout in Kafr Saad village, said MENA, with one police officer injured in the resulting shootout. The source said that the shootout began when the terrorist fired at police officers as they attempted to arrest him, forcing police to return fire. On Sunday, the interior ministry said it has arrested 13 people reportedly involved in a terrorist cell aiming to launch attacks against churches in Egypt. The announcement of the arrests came a week after two suicide bombings hit St George's Cathedral in Tanta and St Mark's Cathedral in Alexandria, killing 47 people and injuring dozens more during Palm Sunday services. The suspected militants were arrested in the governorates of Alexandria, Damietta and Kafr El-Shiekh. Last week, police announced a separate incident in which seven terrorists linked to the bombings were killed in a shootout in Upper Egypt's Assiut governorate. The shootout occurred during a police raid, according to an official statement. The Egyptian authorities have announced the identities of the two suicide bombers responsible for the Palm Sunday attacks. The Islamic State miltant group claimed responsibilty for the explosions.
