Qualifying campaign: Guinea caused an upset after qualifying to CAN at the expense of powerhouses Nigeria, whom they beat 1-0 before holding to a 2-2 draw. They finished their campaign unbeaten with 14 points from four wins and two draws. History: Guinea made 10 CAN appearances, reaching the quarter finals in 2004, 2006 and 2008. However they missed the last term and will hope to emulate this awful memory. They never made it to the World Cup finals. Expectations: Guinea are likely face a stiff competition from Mali if they are to book a last-eight berth. Given their impressive run in the qualifiers, Guinea look capable of accompanying Ghana to the quarter finals. Like always the talent is there in the likes of Ismail Bangoura, Mamadou Dioulde, Pascal Feindounou and Ibrahim Traore but they will seek the so-much lacked consistency.
