Ahly's coach Patrice Carteron announced on Monday his squad for the CAF Champions League final second leg against Esperance of Tunisia, leaving important defender Ahmed Fathi out of the encounter due to a muscular injury. Fathi was forced off his team's first-leg 3-1 victory at Borg El-Arab Stadium over Esperance after only 22 minutes when he felt pain in his muscle. Carteron's squad also excluded injured midfielder Hesham Mohamed as well as left-back Ali Maaloul and striker Junior Ajayi due to long-term injury. Moamen Zakaria remains out of the team's lineup for technical reasons. Right-back Basem Ali and midfielder Naser Maher are back to the team's squad for the anticipated final. The eight-time African Champions Ahly will be eying their ninth title of the flagship African competition on Friday when they faceoff with Esperance, who will be under the pressure of having to score twice and keeping a clean sheet to secure their third CAF Champions League title.
