Ahly have excluded key players from the team's squad for Monday's match against Lebanese side Nejmeh in the Arab Club Champions Cup opener. Newly-joined French coach Patrice Carteron has sidelined Walid Azzaro, Ali Maloul, Islam Mohareb, Salif Coulibaly and Ahmed El-Shiekh from Monday's squad, the club announced early Sunday. The Cairo giants will host Nejmeh at Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium in the round of 32 of the Arab Club Championship in front of 10,000 fans. Ahly's arch-rivals Zamalek played to a 0-0 draw at home against Kuwait's Qadsia in the same round on Saturday.
