New release: A Year in the Nation's Story … Egypt 1916 Tarek Radwan looks back at 1916 when Egypt was suffering from severe political and economic stress caused by the First World War and the British occupation
A'm fi Tareekh Al-Watan … Masr 1916 (A Year in the Nation's History … Egypt 1916) by Tarek Radwan, Cairo: General Organisation for Cultural Palaces (GOCP), 2012. 392pp. As part of their Special Publications series, the GOCP has published a book by the Egyptian journalist, Tarek Radwan. The author chose this year because it was during World War I (1914-1918) and Egypt was suffering severe economic and political stress. The war resulted in the loss of many Egyptian lives and resources, and offered little benefit in return because Egypt still suffered under British occupation.
