Cairo giants Zamalek claimed a 4-2 win over Wadi Degla in a league game at Petro Sport stadium in Cairo on Thursday. Zamalek had central defender Mohamed Abdel Ghani dismissed for a second yellow card with 15 minutes remaining but they succeed to keep their lead and to go through the Egyptian league summit with 20 points. Despite squandering many goal-scoring chances in the start of the game especially from Mahmoud 'Kahraba' Abdel-Moneam and Youssef 'Obama' Ibrahim, the White Knights were stunned by a goal from Wadi Degla striker Ibrahima Ndiaye. The Senegalese striker received a nice cross from Vasilios Bouzas to score in an empty net in the 24 th minute of the game. Six minutes later Mahmoud 'Kahraba' Abdel-Moneam leveled the score for Zamalek when Tunisian midfielder Ferjani Sassi benefited from a miss pass from Degla's keeper Mohamed Abdel-Moncef to send a nice pass for Kahraba who scored easily the equaliser. Kahraba turned from scorer to provider as he sent a nice cross to Ibrahim Hassan who added the second for the White Knights, two minutes before the break. Degla tried to level the score in the second half-time but their attacks were easily contained by Zamalek defense. Zamalek defender Mahmoud Alaa was close on adding the third goal in the 55 th minute but his header were denied by the bar. Five minutes later, Alaa converted a penalty, scoring his seventh goal this season to join Petrojet Ethiopian midfielderShemels Bekele on the summit of the Egyptian league top scorers list. Youssef 'Obama' Ibrahim completed the rout in the 63 rd minute when he received a back-pass from Congolese striker Kabongo Kasongo that made him clear to score the fourth goal. With 15 minutes remaining, a powerful shot from Degla's defender El-Sayed Salem was denied by the post but Zamalek defender pushed Mohamed Abdel-Ghani pushed Ibrahima Ndiaye inside the area preventing him from following the rebounded ball. Abdel-Ghani was sent off for a second yellow card and the Senegalese striker converted the penalty to close the gap with Zamalek. Degla intensified their attacks during the remaining 15 minutes but they failed to make a real threat against a defensive Zamalek side.
