Liverpool's Salah is among the best three players in the world: Egypt's new coach Aguirre
Published in Ahram Online on 20 - 08 - 2018

Egypt coach Javier Aguirre heaped praise on Pharaohs star Mohamed Salah, saying that the Liverpool winger is among the best three players in the world at present.
“Salah is loved not only by the Egyptians; they also love him a lot in Mexico. He has managed to reach people,” Aguirre said in an interview with ON Sport TV channel on Sunday.
“He is a goalscorer who has a point of view through the whole 90 minutes (of every match). He always wants to score, moves forward and gives decisive passes so I can't change his playing style,” the coach added.
The 59-year-old Mexican tactician was revealed as the new coach at a press conference two weeks ago, replacing Argentinean Hector Cuper, who departed after the Pharaohs' disappointing performance at this year's World Cup.
Under Cuper's guidance, Salah made a huge contribution in guiding Egypt to the 2017 African Cup of Nations final, which they lost.
The team also reached the World Cup for the first time since 1990.
“Give me just one reason to change the playing style of Salah. For sure I won't change his position or deploy him as a defensive midfielder,” the new Egypt coach said.
“Salah is currently among the best three players in the world. Nobody can hide this fact. He is an important player for us, Liverpool and for everyone.
“I am very happy with having Salah on our team,” the former Mexico and Japan coach concluded.
In his first appearance with Liverpool last season, the 26-year-old made a huge impact, delivering outstanding performances and scoring 44 goals in 52 matches in all competitions.
Egypt's first competitive match under Aguirre's leadership will be a 2019 Cup of Nations qualifier against Niger next month.
Egypt are fourth in the 2019 CAN qualifiers Group J with no points after losing their opening game against Tunisia 1-0 last June.
