Egypt's minister of irrigation and land reclamation said infringement on agricultural land after the January 25 revolution reached 12,309 feddan (acres). Reda Ismail explained that the security gap following the revolution led to mass infringement on agricultural land in the Nile delta and Upper Egypt. According to the minister, the removal teams assigned by the ministry have succeeded in retrieving only 1,215 feddans, or 10 per cent of the total. He added that the infringements already ruined 11,094 feddans in 25 governorates since January. He also indicated that time passage on the infringements does not give it legitimacy.
