Ghana's Mohammed Abu joins Eintracht on loan Ghana midfielder joins Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt on a six-month loan deal with an option to extend for another season
Ghana and Manchester City midfielder Mohammed Abu has officially signed a six-month contract with German side Eintracht Frankfurt without disclosing the financial details. The 20-year old starlet will join Ghana preparatory camp for the 2012 African Cup of Nations next January before wearing the jersey of the Bundesliga side. "He is certainly not yet the same as a very big signing, but a great talent," Frankfurt sporting director Bruno Hubner said, according to Wiesbadener Kurier. The German team also reached an agreement with Premier League giants Manchester United to extend the Ghanaian's contract for another two seasons set to expire in 2013 if he meets the appreciation of the team's tactician during his loan spell. "The signing of Abu is a first attempt in the framework of our partnership with Manchester City," he added. The former midfielder of Sporting Club Accra, Mohammed Abu joined Manchester City in 2010, and was sent on loan to Norwegian outfit Stromsgodset, where he was named the club's 'Player of the Year.' His contract with City is set to expire in 2014.
