The Egyptian Ministry of Interior's media office has warned about an American website, GCL Internet Services, which has been offering electronic visas for Egypt at double the official price put in place by the country. The ministry is urging anyone looking to obtain an Egyptian visa to do so using the official government website https://www.visa2egypt.gov.eg. Egypt's tourism visa is issued for $25, or $60 for multiple entries. Egypt's new e-Visa service, which was launched in December 2017, offers visas to visitors from 43 countries, including the United States, Canada, the UK, France and Cyprus. The service issues an electronic travel authorisation that is stored electronically and is linked to a passport number. Applications for the e-Visa are done online. Visitors to Egypt must obtain a visa from an Egyptian diplomatic mission, unless they come from visa exempt countries or countries that are eligible for visas on arrival, such as any European Union country. Visitors must hold passports that are valid for at least six months from the date of their arrival to Egypt.
