'Tailor-made' Ferrari, ever more exclusive
Ferraris, 100 per cent customised
Published in Ahram Online on 16 - 12 - 2011

Car enthusiasts are now getting the chance to have their Ferrari made to their exact specifications, perfect in every detail, exclusive and unique, just as you might have a tailor make a suit for you. Ferrari's latest plan for clients wanting their vehicles to be in complete sync with their wishes is called "Tailor Made."
The service, which has already been used by dozens of customers and was recently presented at Ferrari's headquarters, makes it possible to customise your Ferrari right down to the tiniest detail, from colour to the upholstering.
The result is a vehicle modeled on the tastes and passions of every individual Ferrari fan.
''We now have 100 per cent personalised cars,'' said Ferrari Chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo.
''We wanted to take a step forward which sees Italian-made products reach their maximum expression and made totally at the service of the customer's will.
''In addition to the soul, passion and tradition of Ferrari, designers and style experts can now accompany buyers to make their dreams come true.'.
There are three Tailor Made customisation collections, Scuderia, Classica and Inedita.
Scuderia takes its inspiration from Ferrari's sporting history, offering a choice of racing-derived materials, finishes and liveries. The Classica collection, on the other hand, provides a modern twist on the styling cues and features of Maranello's iconic GTs. Inedita introduces an element of experimentation and innovation in terms of styling, colours and materials.
''We went in search of the best Italian tailor-made products,'' said Lapo Elkann, a member of the Agnelli family that controls Ferrari's parent company Fiat and one of the top managers behind the project.
''We sought out sophisticated, innovative materials. It is the best of the best, and we are the first to offer such a 360-degree service.'.
The "'Tailor Made" programme offers a wide range of choices, from precious materials such as cashmere to stylish, youth-focused denim and high-technology carbon fibres.
''We are proud to represent Italian industry,'' said Montezemolo. ''One thing is fashion, another is style. We tried to put together Ferrari's traditional features and Italian elements of quality and excellence.'.
The programme entails customer visits to the Maranello plant, where a "tailor's workshop" has been set up to continue Ferrari's car-customisation tradition, which goes back to before the 1950s.
