Andrea Agnelli has been appointed as Juventus new president starting next season as incumbent chief Jean-Claude Blanc will be demoted to general manager within few weeks, the Serie A side stated. A string of poor results forced the Turin outfit to change the chairman, hoping that Agnelli will turn around the club's fortunes. Juventus, who lie sixth in the league table with three weeks left in the competition, are set to finish the ongoing season empty-handed. They are also expected to miss out on a place in the UEFA Champions League. Juventus center-back Giorgio Chiellini said Agnelli could put an end to the Italian giants' misery. "After such a bad season, one of the worst in Juventus' history, we need to turn a corner and the appointment of Andrea Agnelli as President can without doubt be the first move towards starting again," Chiellini said. "We are a year away from the completion of our new stadium and there is a desire to create a winning team. The investments in the stadium should be accompanied by a great team."
