CAS to rule on Namibia's Cup of Nations dispute The Court of Arbitration for Sport has registered Namibia's appeal to replace Burkina Faso at the African Cup of Nations next month in a player eligibility dispute
CAS says it has not set a hearing date for a likely fast-track case. The 16-team tournament in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon kicks off on Jan. 21. The Namibia Football Association is challenging the Confederation of African Football's refusal to disqualify Burkina Faso for selecting Cameroon-born defender Herve Zengue in qualifying matches. Namibian officials believe Zengue, who got a Burkinabe passport after marrying a local woman, had no right to play for his adopted country. Burkina Faso has been drawn in a group with Ivory Coast, Sudan and Angola.
