American director Izzy Chan (Isabella Vincent Chan) will be among the guests of 2nd Sharm El-Sheikh International Film Festival, which will take place between 3 and 9 March. Chan's documentary The Big Flip, representing the independent cinema, will be screened during the festival. The film revolves around non-traditional families in the US in which women work and men take care of the household. Chan will also give a Master Class in film directing during her visit. The director spend her childhood in Hong Kong and Singapore and began creative writing in the field of theater at a very young age. Her visit is organized by the American Film Showcase, a program managed by the US State Department in cooperation with the cinema institute at Southern California Univesity. Within the same program two other movies will be screened in the festival. Custody, written & directed by James Lapine, observes how the lives of three women unexpectedly change when they cross paths at a New York family court, and Chef, in which a head-chef quits his restaurant job and buys a food truck in an effort to reclaim his creative promise while piecing together his estranged family. The slogan of the American Film Showcase program is “people-to-people engagement through film." The program organizes film screenings in over 40 countries with the aim of strenghthening cultural communication.
