Ismaily came from two goals down to salvage a late 2-2 draw with Tanta in the Egyptian Premier League on Saturday but dropped vital points in the race to finish second and earn African Champions League qualification. Tanta, who are striving to avoid relegation as they sit third from bottom in the 18-team table, stunned Ismaily when they went 2-0 up with only 15 minutes remaining. Tunisian forward Seifeddine Jaziri headed them in front after a mistake from the keeper two minutes before the break and Mohamed Gaber converted a penalty to make it 2-0 in the 75th minute. However, Ismaily rallied back in the dying minutes, with winger Karim Bambo scoring twice on 80 and 90 minutes to secure a share of spoils. The Dervishes extended their winless run to three matches as they struggle to recapture the form that saw them challenge Ahly on top earlier in the season. They are third in the table with 47 points, one behind second-placed Zamalek who played a game more. Zamalek, Ismaily and Masry (fourth with 42 points and with three games in hand) are vying for a second-place finish to earn qualification for the lucrative Champions League.
