No need to delay Zamalek and Arab Contractors game, says EFA
Zamalek had sought postponement of match scheduled for the same day as parliamentary elections, putting a strain on the country's security resources

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has turned down Zamalek's request that their league match against Arab Contractors be delayed from its scheduled date this Wednesday.
“No need to delay another match in this round. There are no security concerns about Zamalek match,” EFA spokesman Azmy Megahed told Ahram Online.
The Cairo-based club had posted its official request on Sunday, citing security concerns.
“The match will be played on the same day as the beginning of phase two of the parliamentary elections and the club wants a delay to ensure the security of the players and technical staff,” stated the White Castle's official website, quoting the club's letter to the association.
Millions of Egyptians participated in the first round of the elections two weeks ago, occupying the country's security forces in large numbers as they secured the process.
The decision comes a day after the EFA ruled that the Ahly-Ismaily match be postponed for security concerns. The title holders were to play the game behind closed doors for failing to control their supporters while their hardcore fans, Ultras Ahlawy, announced last week that they would attend the match no matter what.
“The Ahly and Ismaily match has other special circumstances,” Megahed insisted.
Zamalek are expected to contact the interior ministry for a green light to their request.
With a game in hand, Zamalek are fifth in the league table with 10 points, four behind archrivals Ahly who are in the driving seat.
