Egypt Cup's Ahly and Zamalek matches move back to Cairo Stadium Zamalek's and Ahly's round 16 matches will be played in Cairo Stadium due to security concerns aired by military stadium officials
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has decided to move Zamalek's and Ahly's Egypt Cup matches back to Cairo Stadium after military stadium officials refused to host the matches due to security concerns. Zamalek will meet Wadi Degla on Tuesday and Ahly will take on ENPPI on Wednesday in round 16 of the Cup. “Cairo Stadium will host the two matches,” reads a statement on the association's official website. Fears of hooliganism have loomed in background after a round 32 match between Ahly and Kima Aswan witnessed clashes between Ultras Ahlawy, the Cairo giant's hardcore supporters, and police forces, leaving 140 injured from the two sides. Tuesday's other quarterfinals match-ups are: Shorta v Petrojet, Ismaily v Beni Suef and Smouha v Haras El-Hodoud. Wednesday will see Asyut v Ittihad, Arab Contractors v El-Geish and Gouna v El-Nasr.
