Preview: Stuttering Zamalek hope to get back on track against lowly Tanta
Published in Ahram Online on 03 - 02 - 2018

A beleaguered Zamalek side will be looking to get back on track having only amassed five points in their last five league games when they host lowly Tanta at Cairo Stadium on Sunday.
Following the appointment of manager Ehab Galal less than a month ago, the Cairo giants have only secured a single victory in five games as they slipped now to fifth spot of the league table.
Zamalek, however, will be hoping that a host of new winter-signings could help them hit their stride and get back to winning ways once again.
Tunisian full-back Hamdi Nagguez has made the squad for the first time after arriving from Etoile Sahel in the winter break, alongside new-signings defender Mohamed Abdel-Ghani and midfielder Mahmoud Abdel-Aziz.
In what looks to be a disciplinary move by manager Galal, young left-back Ahmed Fatouh and striker Kabongo Kasongo have been shunned after both remonstrated against their substitution in the draw with Enppi.
And with the injury of international striker Bassem Morsi, who has recently appeared a shadow of his old self, Zamalek were only left with only one fit and recognized center-forward in Nana Poku – also signed in the winter break from Maqassa.
Tanta, on the other side, will be looking to avoid a defeat against Zamalek, whom they managed to hold to a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture.
The visitors are currently in 15th position just one point off the relegation zone, as they will be looking to ensure they avoid demotion to the lower division this season.
