Cairo giants Zamalek have completed the signing of Tunisian international fullback Hamdi Nagguez on a three-and-a-half-year contract, the club announced on Wednesday. "Etoile du Sahel defender Nagguez has officially signed a 3-1/2 contract with Zamalek to become the club's first winter signing," Zamalek's chairman Mortada Mansour told the club's official website. "The player will be a strong addition to Zamalek as has a vast experience and boasts notable skills. He refused many European offers as he prefered to join Zamalek. "We consulted our new coach Ehab Galal before making the signing," he added. Reports suggested that Tunisian side Etoile have accepted a $700,000 offer to sell Nagguez to Zamalek. Nagguez, 25, has been a key player for Etoile and the Tunisian national team, having earned 15 international caps so far. Zamalek are looking to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window, especially following an embarrasing 3-0 reverse against Ahly in the Cairo derby on Monday. The bitter defeat extended Zamalek's winless league sequence against their arch rivals to 17 matches in a run stretching back to 2007. Zamalek, who have suffered five league defeats so far, lie fourth in the table on 28 points, 11 behind Ahly who have a game in hand. The Whites will be hoping to recover quickly from the Ahly loss when they face El-Entag El-Harby on Sunday.
