MAS beat Club Africain on penalties to win CAF Confederation Cup Moroccan side MAS win the CAF Confederation Cup title after beating Club Africain 7-6 on penalties on Sunday
Morocco's MAS won their first continental title after beating Tunisian side Club Africain 7-6 on penalties following a 1-1 aggregate draw in the CAF Confederation Cup final on Sunday. Tiga Tigana scored for MAS on the stroke of halftime to level the aggregate score but the hosts could not capitalize on the numerical disadvantage of Africain, who had to play the last 30 minutes with ten men following the dismissal of Ezechiel Ndouassel. Goalkeeper Anas Zniti was MAS's hero in the shootout, blocking two penalties before scoring the winning penalty himself to spark wild celebrations in the stands. Africain's defeat denied Tunisia the chance to win Africa's two tournaments after Esperance clinched the prestigious Champions League title at the expense of Morocco's Wydad Casablanca last month.
