The supreme electoral committee says the unusual rain causes problems for the ministry of interior to deliver ballot sheets to polling stations during today's pivotal elections The Supreme Electoral Committee Chairman Abdel Moaz Ibrahim stated in a press conference held Monday afternoon that 10 per cent of the subcommittees are experiencing problems receiving ballot sheets from the interior ministry. Ibrahim added that there were no security problems. The problems are mainly that judges arrive late to polling stations due to the bad weather conditions or because the judges do not know the directions to the polling stations. Ibrahim blamed the ministry of interior for the delay in receipt of the ballot sheets, and added that, at the time the press conference was held, five polling stations had problems. Cairo rarely sees rain and yesterday saw 3-4 hours worth of drizzling rain. Many of Cairo's ill-maintained streets are flooded in spots by rain or sewer water.
