Meteorologists say moderate weather is predicted to continue in the capital Cairo and northern coast on the third day of the Islamic Eid Al-Adha holiday. Highs in Cairo Sunday are expected to hit 35 Celsius degree, while lows are expected to reach 24 C, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority said. In Egypt's second largest city of Alexandria, on the Mediterranean coast, temperatures remain almost unchanged, with highs of 29 C and lows of 25 C. In southern Egypt, where temperatures reach their highest during summer days, average highs of 36-39 and lows of 23-25 are predicted. The waters of the Mediterranean and the Red Sea will be suitable for navigation, where weather is predicted to yield moderate waves of 1-1.5 metres and 1.5-2 metres high respectively. Friday marked the first day of the four-day Eid Al-Adha feast, one of the two most important festivals of the Islamic calendar, which comes as the annual hajj pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia is underway.
