At least 14 people were killed and 40 others injured on Tuesday morning when a bus collided with a truck in Upper Egypt's Beni Suef governorate, Al-Ahram Arabic website reported. According to a short statement issued by the health ministry in Beni Suef, a bus travelling from Minya governorate to Cairo flipped over on the Eastern Desert highway after colliding with a truck. The bus was carrying 62 passengers, said the ministry, adding that the dead and injured were transferred to hospitals in the governorate. Deadly road crashes take place on a near daily basis in Egypt, which is notorious for poor road safety, badly maintained infrastructure, and loosely enforced traffic regulations.
