Cairo-based clubs Ahly and Zamalek have been drawn to play Army-owned clubs Talae El-Geish and El-Entag El-Harby respectively in their first games of the Egyptian Premier League season in mid-September. The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) Competitions Committee held the draw for the 2017/18 League at their headquarters in Cairo on Monday. Ahly, which has won the league title for the past two seasons, have been drawn with the runners-up Maqassa in the second match-day, before taking on El-Ragaa ahead of a tough clash with Ismaily. Meanwhile, Zamalek, who finished third last season and currently lack a coach, have been drawn to meet their arch-rivals Ahly on the 17th match-day, the last match of the first round. The competition is scheduled to start on 15 September but Ahly's opener is due to be postponed because they will be competing with Esperance of Tunisia in the quarterfinals of the African Champions League, one day later.
