The United States Embassy in Cairo announced in a tweet from their official twitter username, @USEmbassyCairo, the donation of $100,000 to Egypt for humanitarian assistance for violence victims. The embassy tweeted: Amb. Patterson: "American people deeply moved by violence in#Egyptand want to help." US will provide $100,000 humanitarian assist. The past week's clashes in Tahrir and elsewhere in the country left at least 35 dead and over 3,000 injured. Three American students studying at the American University in Cairo were arrested and accused of throwing Molotov cocktails in Tahrir Square Monday. Security forces said the students were released Thursday.
