Klopp hails newly signed Salah after player scores in Liverpool debut
Published in Ahram Online on 15 - 07 - 2017

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp has hailed newly signed player Mohamed Salah after he scored a goal in his debut during Friday's 1-1 draw with Wigan Athletic, adding that the Pharaohs winger still needs time to adapt to the team's playing strategy.
The 25-year-old Salah, who completed his move to Liverpool from AS Roma last month on a five-year contract for a fee of 42 million euros, marked his Reds debut at the DW Stadium with an equaliser late in the first half after Wigan had taken the lead through Alex Gilbey. Salah had been substituted in the break.
"Salah is a good example. You saw he had no idea how we usually defend, so he was really not involved in this. He had two days with us, then he had to go to Paris to get the papers, but now he's here and we thought ‘let's play him'," Klopp said after the match.
"He's really used to a completely different way of defending, but the first situation, nice sprint. And the goal was maybe the easiest situation in the game, but they played a few wonderful pieces of football: Roberto, Phil, Adam, Gini in the No.6 position was good."
"So it was OK, just not where they can be. It's just a sign, but that's important," the coach concluded.
Salah enjoyed a highly successful season with Roma, helping them finish as runners-up in the Serie A behind champions Juventus.
The former Basel, Chelsea and Fiorentina forward scored 19 goals and provided 15 assists in 41 appearances in all competitions last term.
He also made 52 appearances with the Egyptian national team, scoring 29 international goals.
