Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has praised his newly signed Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, believing he will boost the squad ahead of the new English Premier League season. The 25-year-old international star, who was under contract with AS Roma until June 2019, completed his move to Liverpool from AS Roma, signed a five-year contract with the English Premier League side. "Even if people didn't know too much about him, they [must have] watched a few videos and they are impressive," Klopp told Liverpool's official website on Friday. "We have had a few talks of course, spoke to each other – he is a really nice lad. He is really looking forward to coming to Liverpool and joining us." "He is a fantastic player, with speed. We said after last season, there are a few things we would try to involve in an already really good squad; one of the things is speed, being kind of a finisher, preparing chances, making goals and all that stuff. He brings all this in,” he said. Salah, who notched 15 goals in 31 Serie A games for Roma last season, will now be vying for a place in Liverpool's attack, mostly occupied by Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho last season. "Salah is a naturally fit boy – he can run as quick and as long as he wants. That's all good. I'm really looking forward to [working with him]," the Liverpool manager concluded. Salah enjoyed a highly successful season with Roma, helping them finish as runners-up in the Italian Serie A behind champions Juventus. The former Basel, Chelsea and Fiorentina player scored 19 goals and provided 15 assists in 41 appearances in all competitions with Roma last season. He also made 52 appearances with Egypt national team, scoring 29 international goals.
