Khaled Abdel Galil, advisor to the Ministry of Culture for cinema affairs and head of the censorship authority, has filed nine legal complaints against Ramadan series and television programmes currently on air. According to a statement issued by the culture ministry on Monday, the complaints accused the programmes of airing on TV channels without permission from the authority, and without a licence for airing. Legal complaints were filed against the series El Herbaya and El Mostashfa which, according to the statement, were rejected by censorship authorities. Also includded were the programmes Ramez Taht El Ard and Hany Haz El Gabal, due to their failure to obtain licences. Legal complaints were also filed against certain commercials. Abdel Galil said the censorship authority “sent letters to the channels and companies before the Holy Month of Ramadan regarding compliance with the law, which requires them to prove that the series did obtain a licence, and to do so in accordance with age classifications,” according to the statement.
