Liverpool's talks with AS Roma to sign Egypt winger Mohamed Salah have stalled because of the Italian club's financial demands, English reports said on Friday. According to Liverpool Echo, Juergen Klopp's side seem unwilling to meet the asking price of Roma, who demanded over £35million to offload the in-form winger. Liverpool believe Roma's price tag is excessive, according to the paper. Other English reports said Liverpool have lined up Sporting Lisbon winger Gelson Martins as an alternative should they fail in their bid to land Salah. The former Chelsea man enjoyed a highly successful season with Roma, helping them finish as runners-up in the Italian Serie A behind champions Juvenuts. He scored 19 goals and provided 15 assists in 41 appearances in all competitions. "Sometimes, good things come to those who don't wait too long," Salah's agent Ramy Abbas said on Twitter, appearing to hint at Liverpool's reluctance to meet Roma's asking price.
