Egyptian security closes spy ring investigation ahead of trial The trial of an Egyptian accused of spying for Israel draws nearer as a State Security investigation concludes
The defence lawyer of Tarek Abdel-Razek, who is accused of spying for Israel, told Ahram Online that State Security is in the process of finalising a digital file on its spy ring investigation ahead of referring the case to the Emergency State Security Court. Unconfirmed reports circulated today that the trial will begin 15 January 2011. Essmat Talaat, Abdel-Razek's lawyer, told Ahram Online that contrary to what was published in today's issue of the private daily Al-Masry Al-Youm,the investigation has not revealed the involvement of a second Egyptian spying for Israel in the past 20 years. This information is “incorrect”, she said.
