Directed by Jacques Audiard, French film Dheepan (2015) will be screening at Cairo's Magnolia Leaves of Art on 24 April. The movie, partially inspired by Montesquieu's French novel Persian Letters, revolves around Three Tamil refugees who escape from a civil war in their home country Sri Lanka and arrive at France for new lives. The two-hour movie stars Jesuthasan Antonythasan, Kalieaswari Srinivasan, and Claudine Vinasithamby. Receiving six awards and 12 nominations, the movie has won the Palme d'Or award in the Cannes Film Festival in 2015 and Best Film award in Miami Film Festival in 2016 among other awards. The French film was also nominated for a BAFTA film award for Best Film not in English Language among others.
