Esperance coach Nabil Maaloul has hailed his team after they clinched their first CAF Champions League title since 1994 on Saturday, beating Morocco's Wydad Casablanca 1-0 in the second leg of the final. “Esperance proved their supremacy over the continent. No African team can beat us,” Maaloul said at the post-match press conference. “We clinched a historic trio of the Tunisian League, Cup and African Champions League amid difficult circumstances in our country,” he added. Esperance's Ghanaian fullback Harrison Afful scored the only goal in the 21st minute with a powerful shot that embarrassed Wydad's substitute goalkeeper Yassine Bouno, who had replaced Nadir Lamyaghri who was injured in training on Tuesday. The two North African teams drew the first leg 0-0 in Casablanca last week. “It's my favourite championship after the Tunisian Revolution that ousted former president Ben Ali,” Maaloul concluded. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/26414.aspx
