Esperance's Afful confident of CAF champions league victory 'We'll do our best to bring trophy home,' Esperance defender Harrison Afful says of next month's title match against Wydad Casablanca
Esperance's Ghanaian fullback Harrison Afful is confident about his team's ability to beat Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca and win the CAF champions league title in November. “We want to create a record and history for Esperance. Every player wants to win trophies, and that's just what we want to do,” Afful was quoted as saying by KickOff magazine. "We'll do our maximum effort to win the trophy," the Ghanian fullback added. The Tunisian giant has reached its second CAF champions straight final at the expense of Sudanese side El-Hilal following a 3-0 win in aggregate, while Wydad Casablanca will appear in the final after their 1-0 victory on aggregate over Nigerian champion Enyimba. Afful insisted that this year's final would be completely different for Esperance than the last edition. "We didn't do well in the final last season, but I'm confident that we will do our best to bring the trophy home,” he said. In the last edition, the Tunisian champion suffered a humiliating 6-1 defeat on aggregate at the hands of Congolese champion TP Mazembe, which took home the trophy for 2010.
