Egypt and Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has said that he is happy with the national team achievement's in finishing as runners-up in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. "I think it was a successful experience for the players, coaching staff, the new football association and for the country in general," Elneny was quoted as saying on Arsenal's official website on Thursday. "I think we made the people in Egypt and in the Arab world happy because of our run in the competition. "People needed something to unite them, to make them cheer and be happy. We are happy with this achievement, but of course we would have loved to make them more happy and win the cup and bring it back to Egypt," Elneny said. The Pharaohs played six games in the Nations Cup with a goalless draw with Mali, and 1-0 wins over Uganda, Ghana and Morocco, before beating Burkina Faso 4-3 on penalty shots. Egypt lost the final game of the tournament 2-1 to Cameroon. "We did our best and tried really hard, but it wasn't meant to be. This is God's will and hopefully the future will bring us better things. "The goal I scored was very special for me, I imagined after the game how happy over 90 million people must have been when I scored. "I am not worried about this generation of players in Egypt.
