Egyptian striker Bassem Morsi extends Zamalek stay: official
Published in Ahram Online on 21 - 01 - 2017

Zamalek striker Bassem Morsi has officially extended his contract for two years, club chairman Mortada Mansour revealed early on Saturday.
"Bassem signed a new two-year blank contract after a meeting in my house," Mansour told Sada El-Balad TV Channel.
Morsi's renewal comes after a recent dispute with the club management over the length of the deal and details.
In late December, the player expressed loyalty to Zamalek, insisting that he was ready to unconditionally sign a new deal with the club. However, the deal did not materialize for weeks.
Ten days ago, the management decided to relegate Morsi to train with the youth team, accusing the international striker of being evasive in renewing his contract.
"I feel comfortable after signing the new contract," Morsi said, however, after the renewal.
"I will be available for the team in the Super Cup match against Ahly on 10 February," he said.
"I agreed with the club to play abroad once I received a good offer," Morsi added.
The 25-year-old attacker, whose old contract would have expired by the end of the season, was free to sign for any other club.
Morsi is widely regarded as one of Egypt's best strikers, especially after a series of outstanding performances with the Whites since joining them from El-Entag El-Harby in 2014.
Last season, Morsi scored twice to give Zamalek the title in the final game of the Egypt Cup, beating rivals Ahly 3-1.
The one-time Pharaohs star was not included on the Egypt squad competing now in the African Cup of Nations finals.
Morsi was also instrumental in guiding the Cairo giants, Zamalek, to victory in the domestic double (the Egyptian League and Egypt Cup titles) in the 2014/2015 season.
Zamalek currently lie third on the Egyptian league table with 34 points, 11 behind leaders Ahly who have played two matches more than they.
