Striker Morsi skips Zamalek trainings after punishment
Published in Ahram Online on 10 - 01 - 2017

Zamalek striker Bassem Morsi abandoned Tuesday's morning session in response to the recent punishment imposed against him by the club's Management.
On Monday night, Zamalek's chairman Mortada Mansour said that Morsi will be punished by being relegated to train with the youth team since he has been evasive in renewing his contract with the club.
"Morsi manipulates Zamalek. He is ungrateful to the club and he will train with the youth team from Tuesday until the end of the season," Mansour told ON Sport TV station.
"He told the football director that he won't renew his contract before the end of the season; this isn't acceptable at Zamalek," he added.
The 25-year-old attacker, whose current contract runs out by the end of the season, is currently free to sign for any other club.
Late on December, the player expressed loyalty to Zamalek after a meeting with the chairman; insisting that he is ready to unconditionally sign a new deal with the club.
Morsi is widely regarded as one of Egypt's best striker, especially after a series of outstanding performances with the Whites since joining them from El Entag El Harby in 2014.
Last season, the one-time Paharoahs star, who was not included in Egypt's squad that will appear in upcoming the African Cup of Nations finals , scored twice to give Zamalek the Egypt Cup title by beating rivals Ahly 3-1 in the final.
Morsi was also instrumental in guiding the Cairo giants, Zamalek, to win the domestic double (the Egyptian League and Egypt Cup titles) in the 2014/2015 season.
Zamalek currently lie third on the Egyptian league table with 34 points, 11 behind leaders Ahly who have played two matches more.
