Zamalek, Ahly in race to sign Nigerian striker Stanley Ohawuchi
Published in Ahram Online on 30 - 07 - 2016

Despite Zamalek's confirmation of reaching an agreement to sign Wadi Degla striker Stanley Ohawuchi Saturday, rivals Ahly insist that their negotiations to sign the Nigerian player are still ongoing.
"We have reached a LE5 million loan agreement with Wadi Degla president to sign their striker Ohawuchi for one season," Zamalek's chairman Mortada Mansour said in a video published on the club's official website early Saturday.
"The player is yet to sign the contract on Sunday morning. There is an option to make the deal a permanent one by the end of the loan period," he added.
On the other side, Ahly's football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz confirmed Saturday that negotiations to sign the Nigerian hitman are not over yet.
"Stanley is on our list. The negotiations with him and his club are still ongoing," Abdel-Hafiz explained to reporters.
"If we failed to sign him, we have other alternatives," he added.
Ahly and Zamalek are both in need of boosting their frontlines during the current summer transfer window. The Reds sold key players Ramadan Sobhi and Malick Evouna, while the Whites' striker Basem Morsi was the club's only reliable attacker in recent matches.
The 26-year old Stanley has attracted the attention of the Cairo giants after being one of the most prominent strikers in Egypt for a couple of years since joining from the Maltese league in 2014, scoring 11 goals with Wadi Degla in the Egyptian Premiere league last season.
Zamalek lost their second successive league title to rivals Ahly, ending the tournament second, while Wadi Degla came in the fifth place.
