Egyptian meteorologists are predicting colder weather across Egypt on Saturday, with rain forecast for many parts of the country, including the capital. The cold spell will see low temperatures across Egypt, reaching 5-6 degrees Celsius overnight in many governorates, state-news agency MENA reported. Cairo should see a night-time low of 9 C on Saturday and a daytime high of 16 C, according to weather experts. The Mediterranean city of Alexandria, on Egypt's north coast, should see similar weather, with a high of 15 C. Southern cities are unlikely to see warmer temperatures, with average lows of 5-7 C in the governorates of Assuit, Sohag, Minya and Luxor. The town of Saint Catherine in the Sinai Peninsula will be the coldest, however, dropping to a low of 2 C overnight. Heavy rainfall is forecast in the northern part of the country, while moderate rain is predicted in Cairo. Windy conditions are expected to mean turbulent navigation in both the Mediterranean and the Red Sea, where average wave heights will be 2-2.5m.
