Ahly, Zamalek and Ismaily ordered to play behind closed doors Ahly, Zamalek and Ismaily to play their next home matches behind closed doors after repeated use of fireworks by their fans
The Egyptian football Association (EFA) has ordered Ahly, Zamalek and Ismaily to play their next home matches behind closed doors, following the repeated use of fireworks by their fans. Ahly and Zamalek supporters seemed unconcerned with consistent EFA warnings over the use of pyrotechnics, as they lit several firecrackers during the 1-1 draws with Gouna and Talae El-Gaish respectively. Ismaily, who made a poor start to the season that continued in a 1-1 draw at home to Ittihad of Alexandria, were also sanctioned for a similar reason. The EFA has vowed to clamp down on disorder after the latter stages of last season witnessed crowd disorder, ranging from the use of fireworks to unprecedented pitch invasions. Meanwhile, Ittihad's coach Jose Maqueda was given a two-match touchline ban after remonstrating with the fourth official during the draw with Ismaily. The Spanish coach will have to watch Ittihad's clash against Ahly on Friday from the stands.
