Preview: Ahly eye Egyptian league summit return at Entag
Published in Ahram Online on 18 - 11 - 2016

Ahly will be eager to return to the Egyptian Premier League summit when they take on 13th-placed El-Entag El-Harby away from home on Saturday.
Having finally halted a two-match winless streak with an unimpressive 1-0 win over newly-promoted Tanta ahead of the international break, Ahly will be determined to reclaim top spot from Maqassa who are one point clear.
And a victory over Entag, who secured only six points from seven games, should be the normal outcome for an Ahly side looking to defend their league title.
The Reds will be boosted by the buoyant mood of the international players who helped Egypt to a vital 2-0 World Cup qualifying home win over Ghana – a match that saw defenders Ahmed Fathi and Ahmed Hegazy produce superb performances.
Ahly playmaker Abdallah El-Said, in particular, could be enjoying one of his best moments of his career, having scored the second goal for Egypt in the victories over Congo and Ghana to ensure his nation are top of their group.
Even so, Ahly are not ready to underestimate Entag, with assistant coach Ahmed Ayoub highlighting some of the opponents' strengths that are likely to make the game difficult for his side.
"Entag are a very organized team and boast some excellent players," Ayoub said.
"Moreover, they managed to win their last league game against Alexandria's Ittihad and will be eager to build on that victory against us."
Ahly veteran striker Emad Meteb misses out following a training-ground row with manager Hossam El-Badry, as summer-signing Marwan Mohsen made the squad for the first time this season.
Central defender Rami Rabia, skipper Hossam Ghaly and newly-signed midfielder Akram Tawfik are still nursing respective injuries – as Hossam Ashour and Amr El-Sulaya are set to continue at the center of the park.
Ahly, who are second on 20 points, are yet to lose this season having only slipped points against Petrojet and Ittihad with two consecutive draws.
