Squash: El-Sherbini, Welily set up final showdown in Al-Ahram Open
Published in Ahram Online on 22 - 09 - 2016

World champion and world number one Nour El-Sherbini has stormed into the final game of the Ahram Squash Open after beating compatriot Nour El-Tayeb on Thursday in straight sets.
Twenty-year-old El-Sherbini needed 32 minutes to overcome the former World Junior Champion 11/7, 11/8 and 11/4.
El-Sherbini – who became the youngest-ever world champion when she claimed the juniors title in 2009 at the age of 13 – will face compatriot and former World number one Raneem El-Welily in the final on Friday.
Welily – currently number five – has beaten Sarah-Jane Perry - the only non-Egyptian left in the tournament – 3-1 (11/5, 11/7, 12/10).
"I felt sharp in the beginning, got a bit nervous in the third and was 8-10 down, so happy to win in three," she said after the game.
She will need to be on top of her game to claim the title against top favorit El-Sherbini.
Later on today the men's semi-final contests will take place featuring Mohamed Elshorbagy vs Ali Farag and Omar Mosaad vs Karim Abdel-Gawad.
