Tevez to face City hearing over contract breach Carlos Tevez will face a disciplinary hearing at Manchester City over alleged breach of contract after apparently refusing to come off the bench during a Champions League match
The Argentina striker was initially handed a two-week ban by City but was told by the club to report to training on Thursday—although he could still face further sanctions. “The club has now reached a stage in its investigation where it has concluded that there is a case for Carlos Tevez to answer of alleged breaches of contract,” City said in a statement Wednesday. “Accordingly, the club has informed him that he will face disciplinary proceedings and the hearing will be convened shortly.” City manager Roberto Mancini said Tevez's career at the club was over after the Argentine forward apparently refused to come off the substitutes' bench in the second half of the 2-0 loss at Bayern Munich last month. Tevez claimed it was a misunderstanding, and issued a statement apologizing to City fans. He also said that “going forward I am ready to play when required and to fulfill my obligations.” The 27-year-old Tevez captained City last season and lifted the FA Cup in May, the club's first major trophy since 1976. However, the Wembley success came after Tevez asked to leave the club in January and during the offseason he again publicly pushed for a transfer to be closer to his family in Argentina.
